Neil Young Gets it Backwards

Neil Young is expanding Pono, his service aimed at transferring digital music to analog.

Rolling Stone has a very good article about what Young is doing to reverse the decades-old analog to digital trend.

Pono, the story says, consists of portable players, a music-download service and digital-to-analog conversion technology. After a demo (in Young’s El Dorado), Flea commented to RS on the vibrancy of the sound:

“It’s not like some vague thing that you need dogs’ ears to hear. It’s a drastic difference.”

The portable players — and presumably the rest of the service — will be released next year, the story says.
