From the Vault: Harry Chapin’s “Sniper”

The Daily Music Break is reposting some great music that appeared earlier. This post — with a different version of the same song — originally was on the site on April 20, 2012.

Most people are familiar with Chapin’s hits, which include Cat’s in the Cradle, W*O*L*D, 30,000 Pounds of Bananas and, of course, Taxi. Above is a song that is not quite as well known.

Chapin’s life was cut short by an accident on the Long Island Expressway on the way to a concert on July 16, 1981. For more information of Chapin — who was an activist as well as a singer– check out Taxi: The Harry Chapin Story, the excellent bio written by Peter M. Coan. Peter is a good friend of mine. For even more information, here is The Harry Chapin Archive.
