Folks who like wailing electric blues guitar will love Walter Trout. He really brings it, as they say.
The Wikipedia profile says that Trout, who was born in March, 1951, began his career on the Jersey shore in the late 1960s and early 1970s. He probably played some of the same places that Bruce Springsteen would a few years later. He migrated to Los Angeles and played with giants such as Percy Mayfield, Big Mama Thornton, Deacon Jones, John Lee Hooker and Joe Tex.
Trout’s abilities landed him in Canned Heat in 1981. He replaced Bob Hite, who died in 1981. Hite was the highest profile member of the band, and replacing him surely was an honor and a challenge. Trout then got an even more prestigious gig for a guitarist: He joined John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and shared the stage with Coco Montoya. Trout went solo in 1989 and is particularly popular in Scandinavia. AllMusic also offers a profile of Trout.
One of his bands had a truly awesome name: Walter Trout and the Free Radicals.
