Happy Birthday, Charlie Shavers

Charlie Shavers would have turned 95 years old today. Shavers, a jazz trumpet player who performed with all of the greats of his era, died at the young age of 50.

From the comments at YouTube, I believe the name of this song is “Dirty Old Blues.” It is uncertain. In any case, it’s informally presented and, best of all, features Ben Webster in addition to Shavers. If was recorded at Cafe Montmartre in Copenhagen in 1971 — the same year that Shavers passed away.

Other Finn Zielger on violin, Jorn Elniff on drums, Neils Steen on piano and Neils Pedersen on bass. Here is more on Shavers.
